Chevreuil is the dynamic duo of Tony C. and Julien F. Chevreuil is four amplifiers, one keyboard, one guitar, one drum kit and no over-dubs. Chevreuil creates a dense framework of interweaving lines, multiple layers, and expansive textures.
Those familiar with The Battles, Don Caballero, and Cheval De Frise should recognize this call to arms. Julien holds down the fort with his strong, solid percussion work, while Tony, alternately yet simultaneously raises and lowers his flags, each emblazoned with stunning post-rock, intricate hardcore, and alluring, minimalist noise. A shimmer effect suddenly takes hold as the compositional structure becomes a den of serpents, with each line struggling to reach the top, but ultimately getting sucked back into the morass as another melody asserts her ephemeral dominance.
Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu) lends vocals to track 10 of the CD, which was recorded in December 2005 at Chicago 's Electrical Audio with the help of Greg Norman and Steve Albini.
