Pink Mountain "Pink Mountain"

CATALOG NO: SRR 054
RELEASE DATE: September 20, 2009

Five musicians from separate planets lock themselves in a studio for a few days & let her rip.  Various post-avant spectrums toyed with but tossed out the window for rock, except what exactly is rock?  One man’s Sabbath is another man’s Butthole Surfers. One is feeling Floyd while another is feeling DNA & yet another thinking mid period Crimson & another early period Crimson & then someone is somehow thinking James Tenney, yet communal mind meld miraculously occurs, or maybe just collective brain boiling.  The verite m.o. of the first album is forgotten - this thing expands freely in four dimensions, becomes massive.  There is no hope for this music - its impossible.  That's why it was created.  Beauty is its own reward, and ugly beauty is the most beautiful beauty.

The members of Pink Mountain are Kyle Bruckman, Sam Coomes, Gino Robair, Scott Rosenberg, John Shiruba.  They are or have been in bands including Blues Goblins, Daniel Popsicle, Eskimo, EKG, Eyes, Golden Bolts of Tone, Heatmiser, Lozenge, The Molecules, My Name is Rar-Rar, Quasi, Spezza Rotto, Splatter Trio, Thinking Fellers UL282.  They have worked with artists including: Anthony Braxton, Built to Spill, Eugene Chadbourne, Cheer-Accident, Bobby Conn, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Damon & Naomi, Fred Frith, Nina Hagen, Pauline Oliveros, Oxbow, Robert Pollard, Terry Riley, ROVA Saxophone Quartet, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Elliott Smith, Takeovers, Tom Waits, and Christian Wolff.

Sick Room Records, LTD has the great honor of producing this beautiful, limited edition (500 copies) double LP that includes a free CD.
